Citroen SM Prototype

1972 Citroen SM Prototype Coupe

Offered by Bonhams | Monaco | May 11, 2012

The Citroen SM grand tourer was introduced in 1970. This coupe version using the same mechanicals – mid-front-engined layout with front-wheel drive – was built by Frua for the 1972 Geneva Auto Show. It has the same 2.7-liter V6 making 170 horsepower. The engine was designed with help from Citroen-owned Maserati (which they acquired in 1968).

This car is one-of-a-kind and in original, un-restored condition with about 26,000 miles on the odometer. It has been privately owned since it left the auto show circuit in 1972. This is a rare chance to acquire a one-off prototype. The pre-sale estimate lists this car at $180,000-$240,000. For the complete catalog description, click here.

Update: did not sell.

Ferrari 212 Inter

1951 Ferrari 212 Inter Coupe by Touring

Offered by Gooding & Company | Amelia Island, Florida | March 9, 2012

Before I get into describing this car, I would like to say that I would really like the following picture in high-resolution so I can use it as desktop wallpaper on my computer:

I don’t know, but it looks pretty awesome. Anyway, the Ferrari 212 Inter was produced only in 1951 and 1952 and only 82 were built in various body styles with coachwork from Touring, Ghia, Vignale, and Pinin Farina. The car seen here is by Carrozzeria Touring.

There was also a rarer 212 Export built, the difference being that the Inter rides on a four-inch longer wheelbase. The Export was intended for the track (only 28 were built) and the Inter was for cruising on the Autostrada. They both used the 2.6 liter “Colombo” V12 making 154 horsepower and were capable of over 100 mph.

The three-year restoration on this car ended in 2003 and it has been well-maintained since. I mean, look at that paint! Rarely does anyone buy a blue Ferrari. Well thankfully, whoever bought this originally, did.

The selling price of this car is estimated between $1,300,000-$1,600,000. To read the complete description (and ownership history), click here (interestingly, the URL for this car says “212 Export”). For the complete Gooding catalog, click here.

Update: Sold $1,375,000.

Pre-war Morris Isis

1933 Morris Isis 17.7hp Coupe

Offered by Bonhams, Oxford, England, March 3, 2012

Photo – Bonhams

The first generation of the Morris Isis was produced between 1929 and 1935 and was the only pre-war iteration of the model. The Isis received a facelift for 1932 to resemble the model offered here. It’s one of the more attractive Morris’ I’ve ever seen.

The Isis was the six-cylinder Morris with a 2.5 liter engine making 17.7 horsepower – enough to propel the car to 65 mph. It has a steel body over an ash frame – very British. 3,467 facelifted Isis models were made, including the deluxe Twenty-Five version with the larger 3.5 liter engine.

The car offered here shows very well with it’s attractive red coachwork. Mechanicals were “freshened” in 2006 and the interior is quite nice as well. Bonhams estimates this car between $15,000-$24,000, which sounds quite reasonable for something that looks this nice. For more on this car, click here and for more on Bonhams in Oxford, click here.

Update: Sold $21,000.
